MINUTES
SPECIAL TELEPHONIC MEETING OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC SAFETY
DECEMBER 30, 2014
A SPECIAL TELEPHONIC MEETING was held by the Board of Public Safety in the Mayor’s Office on Tuesday, December 30, 2014.
Those in attendance included Mayor Elinor Carbone, Police Chief Michael Maniago, Lt. Linas Venclauskas, and Fire Chief Gary Brunoli. Participating via telephone were Commissioners Glenn McLeod, Robert Conforti, Richard Zaharek and Darlene Battle. Commissioners Douglas Benedetto and Angelo LaMonica were absent.
Mayor Carbone called the meeting to order at 8:39 a.m.
Chief Maniago explained that the Police Academy starts on January 2nd, in three days.
EXECUTIVE SESSION
On a motion by Commissioner Conforti, seconded by Commissioner McLeod, the Board voted unanimously to enter Executive Session at 8:40 a.m., inviting Chief Maniago and Lt. Venclauskas.
OPEN SESSION
On a motion by Commissioner Conforti, seconded by Commissioner Battle, the Board voted unanimously to return to Open Session at 8:43 a.m.
HIRE PROBATIONARY POLICE OFFICER
On a motion by Commissioner McLeod, seconded by Commissioner Conforti, the Board voted unanimously to hire Dominic Savo as a Probationary Police Officer effective December 31, 2014. Chief Maniago added that two more officers will be hired to bring the force up to 83 members, as authorized. He thanked Lt. Venclauskas for doing great job with the hiring process.
ADJOURNMENT
On a motion by Commissioner McLeod, seconded by Commissioner Conforti, the meeting was adjourned at 8:45 a.m.
